About Dixie:
Dixie Vandersluys is a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), an allied member of the Professional Association of Christian Counsellors and Psychotherapists (PACCP), and completed her Dignity Therapy training in 2015.
Dixie received a Master of Arts in Counselling at Providence Theological Seminary in 2014. She received a Bachelor of Arts majoring in History and Philosophy from the University of Regina in 2001.
However, most of her education has come from just being human!
Dixie is a wife to a pastor, a mother of three nearly grown children, and has enjoyed making friends and memories living in all of the prairie provinces. She enjoys reading, researching, writing, movies, music including singing and drumming, escape rooms, and quiet days at home.
Dixie’s Approach:
Dixie offers an integrative approach to counselling, which involves looking at how the events of our lives have shaped our sense of self, the stories we tell, and our experience of safety in relationships and the world today.
If the technical terms are meaningful to you, this integrative approach involves the use of: mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, polyvagal theory, somatic experiencing, basic neurobiology, narrative and existential approaches, and Bowen family systems theory.
